TURN IT UP
This little collection is earthy, romantic and lilting...thought I'd channel my inner Beatles and compose the kind of music that comes most easily to me. After having taken a little break I’m returning to the studio to complete this collection so stay tuned for more~
This is the eponymous 1st album, originally recorded in 2007, available here completely re-recorded. Tight and aggressive, it’s never very quiet. That being said, melodic, rhythmic, and lyrical content were the overall focus. ‘Clocks', 'Real Trouble', 'Smile', 'Homeless', 'Go Away' are the songs most people tell me they like. To my face anyway. The one respite from all the riffery is the acapella 'We Are All One'. It’s old, it’s by a young person, I still think it’s pretty good.
A expansive double album, this is a more progressive and melodic set. I tried very hard to keep it tight, but let it flow as well. It charts lots of new sonic territory, but retains the classic sound. Definitely a concept album, but I didn’t let that get in the way of the groove~ enjoy
The whole point was to reimagine arrangements from the first 2 albums. These are totally reimagined arrangements of songs from the original albums.
With 'THUS II' I tried to expand on themes and sounds established on the previous album, and at all costs avoid the sophomore slump. You be the judge. 'Killing the Beautiful', 'Between the Lines', and 'The Way We Want' pick up right where the first album left off while new directions are plotted from the group chanting of 'Clones', to the mid-tempo 'Surface Depth', to alt-punk-metal of 'Lease On Life'. 'Crime Scene' broods a little, while the album's closer, 'Dead End' is definitley born of the same stuff as 'Clocks' off the first album. Hope you enjoy it.
